Marlene Flett qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1974. She also obtained a diploma in Special Education at UNISA in 1976. She applied her knowledge in various ways in her work with children with physical, neurological, learning and emotional disabilities in government hospitals, schools and in private practice.
Her post as Senior Occupational Therapist at the Denmar Clinic brought her into closer contact with the intersystemic relationships of psycho-bio-sociological dynamics within teenagers and adults for the first time.
She obtained her M Psych in Counselling Psychology at UP in 1997 and completed her internship at the Staanvas Clinic for substance abuse.
She is a founder member of The SHIP® Foundation, a registered SHIP®forAdults & SHIP®forAcuteTrauma Facilitator & the interim trainer for SHIP®forAdolescents. She has done presentations and workshops in this field.
